Oregon marijuana growers face lawsuit from vineyard owner over crop’s smell

A Yamhill County judge has denied a motion to dismiss a complaint filed by a vineyard owner against aspiring marijuana growers.

The vineyard owner, Momtazi Family LLC, claims marijuana odors would damage wine grapes with “foul-smelling particles.”

The Capital Press newspaper reports Steven, Mary and Richard Wagner asked the judge to throw out the lawsuit because there was no evidence that odors would cross property lines and because the planned marijuana operation wasn’t yet definite. Marijuana Legalization Bill To Be Heard At India’s Parliament Winter Session

A Private Member’s Bill by MP Dharamvir Gandhi to regulate cannabis and opium, and legalize medical marijuana, will be heard in the winter session of Parliament this December, according to a report by Indiatimes. Gandhi is a cardiologist, a former member of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and presently a Member of Parliament from Patiala. Gandhi has been advocating the legalization of medical marijuana for many years, and received the support of late MP Vinod Khanna, among others. Colorado grows twice as much hemp as any other state

Colorado grows almost 40 percent of all the hemp in the country, and more than twice as much as any other state.

Not to be confused with its more famous and psychotropic cousin, marijuana, hemp is used for items ranging from medication and medical research to textiles.

Advocacy group Vote Hemp’s 2017 Hemp Crop Report says hemp cultivation more than doubled this year, from 9,770 acres nationwide in 2016, to 23,346 acres this year.
